When the weather outside gets ghastly and the temperature drops, it feels like the only thing to do is tuck yourself away for the winter and hibernate.

We have some better ideas, and we’ve listed them below in our winter bucket list. There are many things you can do within the comfort and warmth of your own home. If you choose to adventure out and face the cold, there are some fun and frugal activities to try around your neighborhood or in the city.

  Spend a weekend in a cabin

  Take a hike in the woods and take photos
  Visit a museum (check for free days)
  Make soup from scratch
  Join a snowball fight
  Throw confetti at midnight on New Year’s Eve

  Plan a warm vacation or staycation for spring

  Sort through your warm-weather clothes and donate or sell the ones you don’t need
